Honora's Farewell Blog

“…won't you celebrate with me
what i have shaped into a kind of life?”
   –Lucille Clifton

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It’s a little difficult for me to believe, but today I come to the end of my tenure here at Blue Poppy. The company is, I believe, in good hands to continue the work Bob and I began over 30 years ago to help our profession succeed. Though there may be things left undone, I surrender the weight of them to those who follow me!

I haven’t much more to share with you (after all, I’ve blogged and lectured and written continuously for that last decade and more), but I do want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my books or my blogs or attend my classes, workshops, and webinars. I’ve been blessed to have a good career, most of the time doing things I enjoyed with people I liked. If you got a tip or two along the way that helped you be a more effective clinician or a more successful businessperson, I’m satisfied that it was not all just hot air.

Before I ride into the next sunset, I want to thank anyone and everyone who helped me in my career. So many kindnesses from colleagues who set up a class for me, bought a book, attended an event, or believed that what I had to share was valuable! Especially I want to thank my co-workers at Blue Poppy, without whom the work I did would have been impossible, not to mention lonely. I wish them all success and happiness; I’ll miss the collaboration and camaraderie.

Last, I’d like to thank my business and life partner, Bob Flaws, from whom I learned the medicine and whose tireless work for our profession is still the foundation upon which the edifice of Blue Poppy stands. His contribution cannot be overstated in my estimation.

Final thoughts. I believe that at the end of the day (or the end of our lives) we won’t remember much about what we owned, what cars we drove, or how much we spent on our wardrobe. (We’ll be lucky if we can remember anything at all if we live long enough!) The only things that will matter are who we helped, what we gave back, and how much we loved and shared in our short visit to this small and beautiful planet.

So please don’t be lazy, pay attention, share when and what you can, and smile, laugh, love as much as possible.

Happy trails,

Honora Lee Wolfe

  7. I am taking the Herbal Foundations course and it has changed my life. For so long I have wanted a clear and intellectually honest (no more secrets!) teaching on TCM pharmacology. Bob Flaws and you have delivered it and I am so grateful. I have been practicing Acupuncture and administering patent medicines for 13 years, and now with this course, I have a full raw medicinal pharmacy and the support from the course to write and prescribe confidently. I was disappointed to hear that Mr. Flaws has retired ( in search of his rainbow body ... :), but happy to now see you will be joining him. You have both left our profession with so much more knowledge for those who want it. I plan to frequent Blue Poppy courses, including the ones yiu have contributed. So....thank you both for not being lazy, for giving, for not holding secrets, and for what you have contributed! Many blessings!

  9. Hi Honora,

I received a lot of information and support from your blogs/books/webinars. You provided me with more that "one tip or two". The favorite tip I got from you was in one of your webinars where you described a simple needle technique on the upper back in order to release tension and muscle knots. I use it almost every other day.
    Thank You!

  11. Dear Honora,

I am truly grateful for the work that you and Bob Flaws have done for our profession as a whole. I loved reading and learning from Your Points for Profit book (it helped us get our practice off the ground many years ago), and I so enjoyed interviewing you for the Mindful Medicine Worldwide newsletter when you spoke of your experience with MMW working in the clinics in Nepal. When I was an acupuncture and TCM student in Ontario, I worked in the college's library part-time and tried to soak up as much information from all of the books...I loved reading many of the books that Bob wrote through Blue Poppy publications and I have also taken a few of your distance learning courses through Blue Poppy. In many ways, I would say that both of you helped me to pick up the pen and write about TCM as well. You have certainly inspired a new generation of practitioners to continue to learn, grow, and advance our field. Thank you so much for the beautiful work you have done and I wish you and Bob all the very best in this next chapter of your very interesting life on earth! May you find all things which nourish your essence and bring you longevity on the happiest of trails :)

Much love and blessings from Toronto!
